Car history: |
Being a long time Car Guy, I traded this car in March 2007 on a Motorhome to add to my personal collection, but after over 5 years & less than 400 miles, have decided to list the car for sale. The motor & trans are original & matching numbers. In the fall of 2007, when less than 1 block from home, the motor began knocking so I trailered it to my mechanic & had the motor pulled. I took it to a performance engine builder that I have known for 25 + years (D&F Performance in Berlin, NJ). I instructed Dave to build it as closely to Mfr. specs as possible, which he did at a cost of $3861.00. The repair shop cost was $1581.00 which included belts, hoses, wires, etc. While the motor was out, I took the transmission to my guy to have it gone through where he replaced any questionable seals, synchronizers, bearings, etc. at a cost of $475.00. While it recieved a high quality repaint approximately 10 years ago, I took it to my body shop & had the car wet sanded, etc. at a cost of over $2000. Any & all incidental items discovered to be of concern have also been addressed such as replacing the heater core, radio service, etc. I have spent over $9500. & will provide buyer with that I have spent on the car in an effort to address any & all concerns as I am anal about my cars. If any item was even questionable, it was either repaired, rebuilt, or replaced. I take a lot of heat from my family that I can't accept less than perfection & I drive myself crazy trying to keep the cars in my collection as nice as possible. I'm not claiming this or any other 44 year old car to be perfect, and it is not a frame off restoration car, but an extremely nice driver quality #2 car with absolutely no known issues.
You can see from my feedback, that I am very careful about representing my cars properly. You could take this to any local car show & be proud of what you own. My most recent sale being a 73 Pantera, the buyer called me to thank me, & tell me that I understated the car, which I felt was a very nice complement to recieve having been on the other side of Ebay purchases. Most recently, while attending Pebble Beach Concours, I purchased what I thought would be a fun little sports car to drive around California while on vacation, only to be hugely disappointed. Despite having paid for it in advance, I absorbed a $500 loss for the seller to relist it. Not Fun, & I wouldn't want to put anyone through that experience! If you are looking for an excellent driver quality big block, original drivetrain Vette, I feel that you would be hard pressed to find a nicer one short of a body off restoration. Inspections are welcomed. The car has power steering, power brakes. I do have the ignition shielding (new in box) that I never installed. My reason for selling is that my tastes in cars have taken a different direction over the last few years in going more European & getting away from American muscle, & I have driven the car about 400 miles in 5 years.
Buyer is responsible for shipping, although I will assist in any reasonable way.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask prior to bidding. I will be happy to answer everything that I can. I feel that my reserve is extremely fair,& priced to sell, but please don't ask what my reserve is. I prefer to sell this car privately opposed to an auction as I can accept less without paying auction fees. Many times, people sell their sketchy cars through collector auctions in order to isolate themselves from the buyer. I don't need to do that.
